In order that you equipment works correctly it is important that you calibrate it on a regular basis. You should find the calibration instructions and recommendations in your instrument user manual.
One common mistake people make when calibrating is that they do not rinse the electrode when switching between buffers / calibration solutions. For example if you are completing a 2 point pH calibration, you may use a pH4 and a pH7 buffer. It is important that you rinse the electrode when the pH4 is completed so you do not contaminate or alter the value of your pH7.
It is also important that you clean your electrode on a regular basis to prevent build up that may then interfere with readings or calibration.
We would recommend that you calibrate your instrument to the closest buffer or buffers of your testing range.
